BURNTWOOD-based Meiji Judo School of Excellence sent 14 competitors to the recent Cobra Championships at Stockland Green Community Centre in Birmingham – and came home with 12 medals.

Jasmine Turner, Shane Davies, Mollie Hudson and Issie Hall-Woodcock struck gold, Luke Turner, Thomas Hudson, Khya Hudson and Callum Davies won silver, while Lewis Asling, Ben Bradbury, Matthew Barclay and Stephen Hudson took bronze.

Meiji also entered two teams, made up of five fighters per team, into the team event – and retained the Cobra Team Championship title which they won last year.

Team A (pictured below) – Charlie Scattergood, Jasmine Turner, Thomas Hudson, Shane Davies and Ben Bradbury won the title.

Meiji School of Excellence trains at Burntwood Leisure Centre on a Wednesday evening from 6-8pm with classes for both adults and children.

Members of the public are being invited to have a go at trying out judo free of charge during the school holidays.

Just turn up to one of the lessons, call Stewart on 07947 443642 or visit www.meiji. org.uk for more details.
